When you're reading a story to your kids it seems easy to tell it in such a way that it comes to life for them. The characters dance through their imaginations and their eyes twinkle while they beam with joy. BUT...writing down your own story is altogether a different feat. I believe every one has a story and every story matters. In my own journey, I am learning that stories truly are ALL that matter, because people are stories.... and when we take our final breath all that matters is how we loved...people. This is my story, the story of me, the people I love, and the truths I live by. I write it because it is worth it....to me, to my children, and to you. When a story is told your heart begins to feel and if for only that reason, give me all the stories, because to feel deeply is a gift.
Landon and I met singing. We haven't stopped. Our favorite place to land is in a quiet space with a few lines and a guitar. Feelings happen there and our stories come to life in the form of a lyric and a tune. I will share our songs here, and our journey of making them. We dream of traveling the world singing our songs with all five of the babies we made in tow. Yep, I said five and they are the best things we ever did. The last 10 years we've been making 'em, birthing 'em, and surviving 'em. Our heritage is an anomaly. We can both say, our parents are still married. Being products of unbroken homes, raising our kids the same way sits pretty high on the life checklist. We speak truth to them. The truths we know of Jesus, of love, of life, of death. Deuteronomy 6:6-9 in the Bible says, "You must commit yourselves wholeheartedly to these truths...Repeat them again and again to your children. Talk about them when you are at home and when you are on the road, when you are going to bed and when you are getting up. Tie them to your hands and wear them on your forehead as reminders. Write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates." It is what we give our whole selves to...Loving our babes as hard as we can and speaking truth to them so their foundation is strong, unbreakable. These truths will be topics here.....Conversations on being kind, brave, and love...Thoughts on striving to live with open hands without fear....on dreaming big and living bigger.
Our journey hasn't looked at all like we thought other than our dream for a big family. I think we can definitely call that one a dream come true. Lagen (8), LaRue (6), Amory (4), Kai (2), and Atticus (7 months) are the reasons we get out of bed every single morning and the reasons we rarely sleep at night. They have breathed life on our story.
Landon and I have always just kinda walked through open doors. Some may call us hippies, dreamers... and truly, I'm ok with that. The doors we've walked through look like a band called Landers that's growing and developing and making some pretty amazing music, if I say so myself.....A shop called Kantha Bae, where I get to design and create beautiful things from fabrics supporting rescued women in West Bengal.....Getting grow and do life with a loving church community of family and friends.....and Striving to live healthy lives by eating right and using natural medicines and essential oils.....to name a few.
These are the pieces that put together our story. I feel thrilled to create a space to share these pieces with you. To continue my journey, write my story...and invite you to come be a part of it.
